• Motorcycle Safety Training Courses
Rider Safety and education are hallmarks of the Michigan Motorcycle Safety Program. Operating a motorcycle safely requires a combination of skill, experience, dexterity, judgment and control. Proper training, appropriate clothing, and a valid cycle endorsement are the most effective tools for safe riding. Successful completion of an approved course allows you to waive the rider skills test requirement. Courses are designed for novices and experienced riders. Persons who are required to complete a motorcycle safety training course include teens ages 16 and 17, and anyone 18 or older who has twice failed the rider skills test.

Experienced riders who have taken some time off from riding a motorcycle can also benefit from training by renewing the skills necessary for safe motorcycling.

• Getting Your Motorcycle Endorsement is as Easy as 1-2-3!
To legally ride a motorcycle on Michigan roads, you must have a valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement designation of "CY." Complete the following three steps to get your CY endorsement:

1. Visit a Secretary of State office to take the vision and written knowledge tests.
2. Pass a skills test from a rider skills testing organization OR successfully complete a certified motorcycle safety course.
3. Present your completion certificate at a Secretary of State office.
