Men in Mentoring Toolkit
Recruiting male mentors is one of the biggest challenges programs report. Please utilize Mentor Michigan's "Men in Mentoring Toolkit" to discover useful language to engage males in mentoring.
Upcoming 2009 Mentor Michigan Workshops
Mentor Michigan and Michigan State University Extension are pleased to offer a professional development workshop, Interviewing Skills and Mentor Screening this summer. The workshop, which is offered at three locations, is designed to assist youth mentoring program staff and volunteer administrators in their efforts to meet the Michigan Quality Program Standards for Youth Mentoring.
Research In Action Series
Mentor Michigan is hosting monthly webinars on the Research in Action series. This series was developed by MENTOR and translates the latest mentoring research into tangible strategies for mentoring practitioners. Research in Action makes the best available research accessible and relevant to the mentoring field. Programs can ensure their practices are based on current research, resulting in improved services and better impacts for young people when they use the Research in Action series.
Save the Date: 4th Annual Statewide Mentoring Conference
Michigan's 4th Annual Premier Mentoring Conference has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Michigan State University Union in East Lansing, Michigan. Mark your calendars to attend this annual opportunity for mentoring professionals.

2009 Governor's Service Awards Winners
On Thursday, June 18, several hundred volunteers and their supporters gathered at the Governor's Lansing Residence to celebrate service and its impact on communities as part of the 2009 Governor's Service Awards. Two awards honoring mentoring were handed out, for the Mentor of the Year and the Outstanding Mentoring Program Award.
