Michigan Center for the Book The Michigan Center for the Book draws from the Library of Michigan and its affiliate institutions to encourage and produce local and statewide programs and resources that promote books, reading, authors and libraries including author tours and One Book programs.
The Center for the Book has announced its 2009 grants - 12 grants for a total of $4,150.00. Congratulations to the recipient libraries. You can see a listing of the recipients and events at the Grants page. Information on the 2010 grants program will be posted in November 2009.

| Ready, Set, Ask! The Library of Michigan is pleased to present "Ask Us Live," our chat reference service. In chat reference, also known as live or virtual reference, a librarian and a patron can exchange dialog and view Web sites together, creating a "real time" transaction without really being in the library!
"Ask Us Live" is designed to assist with brief, factual questions pertinent to the Library's Michigan, genealogy, and government documents collections. For more extensive research assistance, please call our reference desk at (517) 373-1300 or send email to librarian@michigan.gov. You are also welcome to visit the library, located at 702 West Kalamazoo Street in Lansing.
Ask Us Live is available Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm. To start a session, find the "Ask Us Live" link at michigan.gov/askalibrarian.
