Judy Karandjeff

Governor Jennifer Granholm appointed Judy Karandjeff as Executive Director of the Michigan Women's Commission on April 16, 2003. The goal of the commission is to improve the quality of life for Michigan women.

Prior to 2003, Judy was the Executive Director for Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Michigan and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan. Judy also worked for over 10 years on the Michigan House of Representatives' Policy Staff on Public Health issues and as an aide for former Kalamazoo State Representative Mary Brown. She has a Master's of Public Administration from Western Michigan University and a Bachelors of Arts from Southern Methodist University.

Judy is married to Robert J. Kleine, lives in East Lansing, and is a mother, step-mother and grandmother. She is active with Planned Parenthood, the National Association of Women's Commissions and other organizations. She has been a civil rights and women's activist for many years.
